WaTaino Concert – Intern Wade Lutz - Mistaken Move movie – Mildred Bailey music – Children’s Music project - Movie Reviews: Harriett, Jo Jo Rabbit, Midway - Give Me Five program -

Intern Wade Lutz – I am hiring Wade Lutz as an intern with the long-range goal of turning over Edwards Music Publishing when I can no longer compose or work. Wade is primarily a graphics designer with experience in marketing, organizing and music in the video game business. He is driven and will be a great addition to our publishing team.

WaTaino CD Update- Co-writer Orlando Sanchez says he finished live track recordings in Orlando, Florida and is sending the finished tracks to the flautist’s studio in Spain for the final mix.  Gary spoke with Professor Steven Friel of Eastern Washington University who proposed that EWU produce a WaTaino concert in the spring of 2020, which is very exciting. We will hopefully get some videotape to add this concert to our YouTube.com channel. There is also talk of a European tour fairly soon to promote the CD when it’s released.

Mistaken Move movie – I talked with writer/director Jimmy Cullors who said he liked the music I submitted for the murder mystery movie he is shooting in Las Vegas called Mistaken Move. Unfortunately, just before the movie was finished his DP passed away and now Cullors believes the movie won’t be finished until January 2020.

Mildred Bailey Music –Cecilia Curtis of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe is singing songs made famous by Mildred Bailey a member of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe at The Coeur d’Alene Tribal Casino on New Year’s Eve from 6 to 10 pm with the Bruce Pennell Trio. This will be the sixth Mildred Bailey show, including  a benefit show performed solo by CeCe at the Human Rights Education Institute on December 10th, 2019. (I transcribed the music)

Children’s Music project – I started a new recording project involving children’s songs that I have written over the years. Ellie Holm, a 10 year old child prodigy is singing the songs. Last week we recorded four of the songs for the CD with the help of Dan Lewis, sound engineer and Gary Buettner who played guitar and ukulele on some of the tracks. The plan is to record 12 more songs and then design the cover artwork and get the CD distributed. There is a video on my Youtube.com channel of Ellie singing God Is Everywhere.

Movie Reviews: Harriett, Jo Jo Rabbit, Midway – We’ve gone to several movies recently including Harriett, a bio of Harriett Tubman who bravely risked her life to cross over into the South many times to rescue black people from slavery.  Jo Jo Rabbit is a funny but sad movie about a 10 year old German Boy who is a member of the Hitler Youth and has an imaginary friend named Adolph Hitler. The movie takes place at the end of World War II as the chaos of the collapse of Germany and the realities of the holocaust finally reveals the horrors of Nazism.  Midway is a movie based on how America turned around the victories Japan had been enjoying at the battle of Midway when the Americans sank four Japanese Carriers, destroying Japanese naval superiority. The movie was historically accurate and the CGI made you feel like you were actually in the middle of the action flying a corsair off a carrier and attacking the Japanese fleet. The bravery of all the sailors and soldiers on all sides was unbelievable.

Qualchan Opera - Give Me Five program - I am asking individuals to donate $5.00 or more, and asking businesses and organizations to donate $500 or more to fund the production and filming of my Qualchan Opera. You can see the 19 minute video pitch at this link https://www.fracturedatlas.org and then click on “donate” search for Qualchan Opera and then click on the video at the top of my Qualchan Opera page.
