SONG 06 RETALIATION – 2:30 (Sung by Whist-alks, Gov. Stevens, Kamiakin and Cayuse chorus) Whist-alks describes Governor Stevens. Governor Stevens orders retaliation for the deaths at the Whitman Mission. The Cayuse Indians beg Kamiakin to join them in the fight against the Americans but Kamiakin refuses so the Cayuse begin a three day war with the Yakamas in which the Cayuse tribe is decimated by the fight against the Yakamas, and then the Americans, never to rise again.
