Gary A. Edwards Entertainment Blog 2/14/19 – Qualchan History Lecture – Qualchan Opera Update - Happy Valentine’s Day–Orlando Sanchez CD Update –  Qualchan at EWU

Qualchan History Lecture – I will be giving a history talk about Qualchan at the Democrat Club at the  Iron Horse Restaurant on March 8th from 12 pm to 1 pm. The focus will be on the research I conducted about Qualchan, considered the bravest warrior in the Yakama Nation and confederated tribes in the Pacific Northwest Wars from 1855 to 1858. You are all welcome to attend.

Qualchan Opera Update –I have been accepted by Fractured who serves as my non-profit Fiscal Sponsor. I started a fundraising project to raise money to produce my Qualchan Opera in Spokane or Coeur d’Alene. I would like to ask individuals to help in what I call my Give Me Five program, by donating $5.00 or more, and corporations to donate $500 or more to my project at this link Again, the goal is to produce the premiere performance of my Qualchan Opera and get a videotape of the performance.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your loved ones. If you’re looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate I would recommend Sargent’s in Hayden. I proposed to my wife 43 years ago tonight and I would do the same all over again.

Orlando Sanchez CD Update – Orlando Sanchez is a great Latin percussionist who has played with Stevie Wonder, The Backstreet Boys, Donna Summers and others and worked for years in music production at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. We have finished writing ten songs together and sketched out the melodies which feature the Indigenous Taino Caribbean Indian tribe style of music. The plan is that Orlando will take the melodies we wrote and go to Florida in April, lay out the tracks with his musical friends including the drummer for Marc Anthony and bring back the finished CD to Spokane for a release around May or June.

Qualchan at EWU -Remember, there will be an abridged performance of my Qualchan Opera at Eastern Washington University on April 5th, 2019 at 7 pm at the school of music.
