Gary A. Edwards Entertainment Blog 11/04/19 A Stitch in Time Update - WaTaino CD Update – Other Composing – Mildred Bailey music - Book Review: Charles Finch series –  radicci Restaurant Review - Give Me Five program -

Mistaken Move movie – I got a call from Jimmy Cullors asking me to write the soundtrack music for a murder mystery movie he is shooting in Las Vegas called Mistaken Move. I finished listing 54 pieces of my original music for the scenes in the soundtrack this morning.

A Stitch in Time Update – I wrote five new songs for this original musical. Co-writer Claude Solnik told me this week that he plans to do more previews in New York City. I am hopeful that the show will be timely released about the time Donald Trump is impeached.

Mildred Bailey Music – On October 3rd, I directed a 7 piece band and front singer Cecilia Curtis at The Coeur d’Alene Tribal Casino as CeCe sang 15 jazz songs sung by Mildred Bailey at the Elder’s Banquet. There were 2,000 people or so in the audience and they were all grooving at the show. I was having medical problems that day but made it through the show, and then went to the hospital where I was blessed with a new pacemaker and am doing well, now. CeCe  is scheduled to perform the show at the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Casino on November 16th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm with backing tracks which my sound engineer Dan Lewis is preparing and on New Year’s Eve from 6 to 10 pm with the Bruce Pennell Trio.

WaTaino CD Update- Co-writer Orlando Sanchez says he is almost finished live track recordings in Orland, Florida and plans to send the finished tracks to the flautist’s studio in Pero for the final mix.  Hopefully, the CD will be released sometime around the end of this year. If you click on the Podcast button at the bottom of this blog you will hear a sample of the music on this great CD.

Fujiyama Restaurant Review – I have gone twice now to a restaurant named Fujiyama in Liberty Lake, Washington. The food was excellent, the service was great, and if you eat lunch Thursday through Friday, the prices are very reasonable. They also have a hibachi room where you can watch your dinner being cooked. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Gary Karr Concert – I went to hear Gary Karr play solo bass with the Gonzaga Symphony in Spokane, Washington on October 14th, 2019. In 1964 when I was playing with the Louisville Symphony, Gary Karr performed a concert with us, and afterwards the bass section went with him to a restaurant and we had a nice chat. This was the first time I had seen him in 55 years. He invited me to his reception at the Onion Restaurant after the concert and he was just as friendly and sociable as ever. By the way, Gary Karr is described as the “best string bass player in the world in the last 100 years.” His performance at the concert was marvelous perfection.

Qualchan Opera - Give Me Five program - I am asking individuals to donate $5.00 or more, and asking businesses and organizations to donate $500 or more to fund the production and filming of my Qualchan Opera. You can see the 19 minute video pitch at this link https://www.fracturedatlas.org and then click on “donate,” search for Qualchan Opera and then click on the video at the top of my Qualchan Opera page.
