Gary A. Edwards Entertainment Blog 3/28/19 Say Roar Studios–- Orlando Sanchez Wataino CD Update –  Qualchan at EWU -  Give Me Five program - Book Review  Fryderyk Chopin - Book Review A Rope From The Sky

Say Roar Studios –I started transcribing music for a company called Say Roar Studios. My job now is to take music sound files from composers and transcribe them into sheet music for live orchestras to perform.  On June 12th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm there will be a Gala and Auction at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. The Coeur d’Alene Symphony will be present and performing music I have transcribed. Come on down.

Orlando Sanchez Wataino CD Update – Orlando Sanchez and I have finished the draft of ten songs and are finalizing the arrangements. These songs are inspired by the Taino Caribbean Indian tribe. The excitement about this project is intensifying. Orlando says his musical friends include a drummer for Marc Anthony and a keyboard player for Menudo and they are chomping at the bit and eager to get started laying down tracks for this CD.  Orlando says one of his Disney World connections wants to listen to the CD after the CD is finished and we are planning to write a musical production about the Tainos.

Qualchan at EWU -Remember, there will be an abridged performance of my Qualchan Opera at the School of Music Building at Eastern Washington University on April 5th, 2019 at 7 pm at the school of music.

Give Me Five program - I am asking you to  donate $5.00 or more, or your business or organization to donate $500 or more to fund my Qualchan Opera at this link https://www.fracturedatlas.org/site/fiscal/profile?id=18525 Click on the button and be sure and do a search for the Qualchan Opera. The goal is to produce the premiere performance of my Qualchan Opera and get a videotape of the performance.

Book Review  Fryderyk Chopin: A Life and Times – This 727 page book by Allan Walker was an enjoyable read and a comprehensive history of the short life of Chopin (1810-1849,) the famous composer and concert pianist. Not only vignettes of his personal life including his 9 year affair with George Sands, the novelist who wore pants and smoked cigars (shocking at the time,) but also samples from scores of his music (which I enjoyed playing and analyzing in my mind.) Chopin to me is best known as the musical acrobat who could play triplet patterns in his left hand, and four note patterns in his right hand, for example; an astonishing feat.

Book Review A Rope From The Sky: The making and Unmaking of the World’s Newest State. This book by Zach Vertin is a history of North and South Sudan and an analysis of the two country’s difficulties.
