Gary A. Edwards Blog – 11/21/2016 CDA Tribal Radio Interview, Christmas on The Concourse Live Music CD released, Movie Review The Inferno, Fantastic Things, Book Review The Devils of Cardona

Qualchan Opera Update – 11/13/2016 I went to the Coeur d’Alene Reservation Tribal Radio station KWIS and had an interview with DJ Tony Bova. We talked about my Qualchan Opera quite a bit. We talked about my Hopi friend Jacob Johns and Tony played some tracks from Jacob’s music CD Unity Consciousness. I played a couple of songs on the guitar and sang I Am A Spirit and Going Home, a salute to veterans. I put in a plug for Ryan Craig’s music video “I’ve Got Your Back” with touching photos of fathers and sons of all ages. I recently applied for a grant for seed money to promote The Qualchan Opera.

Christmas on The Concourse CD – I now have a CD with live music from the 2015 Ignite Theater production of this holiday musical comedy I wrote. Contact me at gedward@roadrunner.com if you are interested in a copy. This will be provided free to theaters and artists looking for a Christmas show and/or great Christmas music to perform and record.

Movie Review – The Inferno with Tom Hanks is based on the novel by Dan Brown. Tom Hanks wakes up with partial amnesia and must uncover clues to prevent the release of a plague created by a mad scientist that could destroy half the Earth’s population.

Movie Review – Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is based on a recent book by J.K. Rowlings of Harry Potter fame. A wizard arrives in New York from London carrying a suitcase of fantastic creatures, looking for a new creature and gets caught up in a plot by a dark wizard to conquer the world. The settings in 1924 New York and the CGI (Computer Generated Images) are fantastic.

Book Review - The Devils of Cardona by Matthew Carr is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It’s a fiction novel about an investigator assigned to look into the murder of a priest in Cardona, Spain in 1542. There are conflicts with the Inquisition, conflicts with Moriscos (Moors forcibly converted to Christianity), and much more and a simple murder turns into the discovery of a much more complicated plot motivated by greed. The book actually gave me a feeling of what it would be like to live in Spain in the 1500s.
