Gary A. Edwards Blog – 11/11/2016 Christmas on The Concourse on TV, Qualchan Opera, Movie Review Hacksaw Ridge

Christmas on The Concourse - I went to CMTV last week. They said they will broadcast my Christmas on The Concourse musical on Channel 14 Comcast Cable around Thanksgiving for this year’s Christmas season.

Qualchan Opera progress - I talked to the Yakama Nation people and they are interested in my Qualchan Opera 1 hr. 45 minutes long work which I suggested as a regular pageant to draw in tourists to their reservation. They did a radio interview with me and invited us to a salmon feast for tribal members.

Movie Review – Hacksaw Ridge is directed by Mel Gibson and is about a conscientious objector who joins the Army in World War II who wanted to serve as a medic. He was harassed in basic training for refusing to carry a gun. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for bravely staying behind after his unit was overrun to rescue 75 wounded soldiers by lowering them down from a high ridge one by one on a rope while being hunted. This is based on a true story. Disclaimer - the violent graphic, detailed gory scenes depicting war are not for the faint-hearted story. It’s a good thing movies can’t depict the stench of battle. My heroes are people who save lives. I highly recommend this story.

Spokane Folk Music Festival - I will be performing at the Spokane Community College at the Lair Student Union Building, THE UNDERGROUND Stage - Sunday November 13 from 3:30-4  at Mission and Green Streets, Spokane, WA.
